Horned Frogs set to host Air Force
Nov. 1, 2007
FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's and women's swimming and diving teams will play host to Air Force at the University Recreation Center on Friday at 4 p.m. The meet will be the first of three consecutive home Mountain West Conference contests.
The men's squad, who opened the season last week with wins over Centenary, Incarnate Word and UT-Permian Basin, will begin the conference slate on Friday. The Frogs were highlighted by seniors Jonathon Berrettini and Scott McCracken, who each contributed to four wins. Junior R.J. Hesselberg stayed undefeated on the season with a win in the one-meter dive, and also claimed his second consecutive MWC Men's Diver of the Week award on Thursday.
The women (3-2, 0-1) will face their second conference opponent of the season on Friday. In their last action, the Frogs defeated Centenary, Incarnate Word and UT-Permian Basin, while falling to Northern Arizona. Two freshmen, Jessica Miles and Brittney Martinez, recorded wins for the Frogs, as Miles won the 200- and 500-free events and Martinez took the top spot in the 100-back event.
Since joining the MWC, the women's squad is 2-0 against the Falcons, while the men remain winless. In 2005, the men dropped a tough 121-120 decision in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Air Force men come to Fort Worth with an overall record of 2-1. The Falcons defeated Colorado School of Mines and Metro State and fell to Denver. The women's team is currently 2-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play, with wins over Colorado School of Mines and Metro State, and losses to Boise State, New Mexico and Colorado State.
