Seely, McCain grab MWC Diver of the Week honors

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU's Kelly Seely and Kelly McCain have earned the Mountain West Conference Women's and Men's Diver of the Week honors, respectively, the league office announced today. Both student-athletes are being honored for the second straight week.
Seely, a senior from Friendswood, Texas, placed first in three of her four events in a pair of MWC dual meets. In TCU's Nov. 5 win over Air Force, Seely broke the school record on the 3-meter board with a total of 322.28. The previous record of 316.51 was established in 1991 by former TCU All-American Kelly Crowell. She also won the 1-meter board with a 276.68. Seely's marks against Air Force are the top diving scores in the MWC this season.
Against UNLV on Nov. 4, Seely captured the 3-meter event with a score of 257.03 and finished a close second in the 1-meter (240.30). Earlier today, Seely was also named TCU's Female Student-Athlete of the Week.
McCain, a senior from Corpus Christi, Texas, won all four board events on the week against MWC competition. Against UNLV on Nov. 4, he broke TCU's record on the 3-meter board with a score of 343.73, besting an 11-year-old school mark of 333.43. McCain also took tops honors on the 1-meter with a 307.73. He placed first on both the 1-meter (278.78) and 3-meter (341.48) events in a dual meet with Air Force Nov. 5.
Of the eight swimming and diving weekly awards issued by the conference thus far this season, the Horned Frogs have claimed five of the honors. TCU's men's and women's teams are in action Friday and Saturday at the University Recreation Center. Friday's meet with Centenary, McMurry and Texas-Permian Basin begins at 5 p.m. (CST), while Saturday's MWC dual versus Wyoming starts at noon.
