FORT WORTH - TCU junior Edgar Crespo and former Horned Frog swimmer Alejandro Gomez represent their home countries this week at the 10th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Dubai.

Crespo suits up for his native Panama, while Gomez competes for his native land of Venezuela. Gomez was a Frog from 2005-2007.

Current 100-breaststroke school record holder Crespo is set to compete in breaststroke and butterfly events. Gomez is a distance-freestyle specialist and is the TCU record holder in the 1000-freestyle.

Crespo and Gomez are seasoned in international competition, as they both competed at the 2009 FINA World Championships. Crespo was a 100-breaststroke entrant at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) is the premiere short-course event. It has been held every two years since the inaugural championships in 1993.

This year's championships in Dubai will be the first time they have been held in the Middle East and will attract more than 1,000 swimmers from more than 140 countries.
