Patrick Cunniff was named an assistant track & field coach at TCU in July of 2004. Cunniff works with both men's and women's distance runners during the indoor and outdoor track seasons and oversees both cross country programs in the fall.
In his first fall with the Horned Frog harriers, Cunniff directed the TCU women to a second place finish at the Conference USA Championships and a fourth place finish at the South Central Region. Under his direction, Mary Kinyanjui repeated her individual accomplishments as both the conference and regional individual champion. Sophomore Calandra Stewart garnered second team all-league recognition and placed ninth at the region meet, earning a spot at the NCAA Cross Country Championships as well.
Cunniff spent the previous two years as a volunteer assistant coach for the women's track program at the University of Texas in Austin. While at UT, he helped with recruiting and in practice with both the distance runners and sprinters. The Longhorn women's team captured both the indoor and outdoor Big 12 titles in 2003, the Big 12 Conference outdoor championship in 2004 and was the South Central Regional Cross Country Champions in 2003.
Cunniff also coached former Texas Longhorn standout Brian Rue, who was an Olympic trials qualifier in the 800 meters.
Cunniff was a three-year letterwinner in both cross country and track at the University of Georgia, graduating in 1991 with a degree in political science.
