General

  • Competed in the 60-meter high hurdles during the indoor season... won the Conference USA title with a season-best time of 7.94 seconds.
  • Ran the 110-meter high hurdles during the outdoor season following the conclusion of spring football practice.
  • Won the Conference USA outdoor title with a season-best time of 13.74 seconds in the sprint hurdle event.
  • Placed fifth at the Midwest Region in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 13.93 seconds, advancing to the national meet.
  • Reached the semifinal round of the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the second time in his career... posted a mark of 13.83 seconds in the semis, the eighth fastest time overall, but did not advance to the finals as he was seventh in his heat.

  • Did not compete in track as he was rehabilitating a knee injury sustained during the 2001 football season.

    2001

  • Captured the WAC 55-meter high hurdles title in the indoor season with a winning time of 7.47... the victory earned him WAC Freshman of the Year honors.
  • Duplicated that feat during the outdoor season when he won the WAC 110-meter high hurdles in a time of 13.73, again earning conference Freshman of the Year honors... his season-best time earned him a trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
  • Posted a time of 13.80 in the NCAA prelims to advance to the national semifinals... was the only freshman to advance to the semis in the event.

    High School

  • Won the state 5A championship in the 110-meter hurdles as a junior in 13.68, earning 1999 High School All-America accolades by Track & Field News... finished third in the same event as a senior in 2000.
  • Placed second in the 110-meter hurdles in the Junior Pan American championships.
  • Was a SuperPrep Texas Top-100 selection in football as a wide receiver and free safety... also was a State Top 100 selection by the Dallas Morning News, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Houston Chronicle.
