Lubbock, Texas - The Darryl Anderson Era officially got underway as the TCU track & field squad traveled to Lubbock, Texas for the Red Raider Invitational on Saturday. Other schools that took part in the meet at the Texas Tech Athletic Training Center included Baylor, UTEP, UT-San Antonio, Florida and the host school, Texas Tech.

"Overall I was very pleased with our performance," said Anderson, the Frogs' first-year head coach. "We had a lot of people competing very hard and that's all you can ask. We are a little behind where we need to be, but this gives us a starting point. We need to keep working hard and racing to get where we want to be."

The Frogs got first place finishes from four-time all-American Jackson Langat in the 1000 meters (2:27.40), MaKeatha Cooper in the 55-meter hurdles (7.94) and Zelma Wade in the shot put (12.81m). The Frogs also got strong performances on the men's side from Bradley Reed in the 55-meter dash (2nd-6.29 seconds), Jonathan Jackson in the long jump (2nd-7.10m), Che Chavez in the 400 meters (3rd-indoor personal best of 48.10), Brett Wilson in the 600 yard run (heat-winning time of 1:10.99) and Kip Kangogo in the mile run (3rd-4:08.47). On the women's side, Marquita Davis placed second in the 400 meters (55.49).

"Langat had a easy run and won easily," said Anderson of the Frogs' 800-meter specialist who was competing for the first time since last year's NCAA Indoor Championships due to an injury that forced him to miss the entire 2004 outdoor campaign. "I was very pleased with (freshman) Bradley Reed. The only runner to beat him was an NCAA finalist in the 100 meters last year. I thought Kangogo had a good run, but the altitude may have affected him a little. I was also pleased with our 3,000 meter runners on the women's side - Halie Bullin, Cassie Hostick and Katrina Zielinski."

The Frogs will not compete again until they return to Lubbock to take part in the Wes Kittley Invitational on February 5.
