The TCU Flyin' Frogs posted four provisional NCAA marks, two on the men's side and two on the women's ledger, at the Houston Indoor Classic on Saturday. The TCU women placed third of 12 teams while the men finished third among 11 squads competing at the Yeoman Field House on the University of Houston campus.

On the men's side, All-American long jumper Aundre Edwards and quartermiler Jerry Harris improved on their provisional marks set last week at the Oklahoma Indoor Classic in Norman. Edwards, who placed fifth in the long jump at the NCAA Outdoor Championships last June, leaped a personal indoor best of 7.80 meters in taking the long jump competition, a tenth of a meter better than his best jump last week. Harris ran a fieldhouse and meet record time of 47.06 in winning the 400 meters, nearly a half a second better than his winning performance from last weekend.

On the women's side, senior three-time All-American Monica Twum logged a provisional mark in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.40 seconds in her first appearance of the spring. Freshman Donita Harmon also provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships by winning the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.16 seconds.

Other top performers for the Frogs on Saturday included Jackson Langat, who won the mile in a meet record time of 4:13.28 and freshman Katie Zielinski, who captured the gold medal in the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:00.23.

"We performed well today," said TCU head coach Monte Stratton. "This was a dress rehearsal for the indoor Conference USA championships, which will be held here at the end of February. This meet had some good competition and we stepped up our performance to match that level."

In the 60-meter sprint prelims, former Flyin' Frog standout Darvis Patton set a facility record with a time of 6.58 seconds, two one-hundreths of a second faster than Maurice Greene ran on the same track just one week ago.

The Frogs will enjoy a week off before returning to competition at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs on Saturday, February 8.
