Dillon Notches Provisional Mark in Long Jump

Freshman Cleavon Dillon logged a provisional NCAA qualifying mark of 7.62 meters (25 feet even) in the long jump, highlighting TCU's efforts in the first day of the Third Annual Tyson Pre-National Indoor Classic, held at the Randal Tyson Track Center on Friday.
The Frogs sprinters again turned in solid performances in the prelimary rounds. Demario Wesley logged the fastest prelim time in the 60 meter dash with a 6.73 clocking. Michael Frater (6.82) and Dillon (6.83) also advanced to today's finals in the 60. Steve Slowly (21.29) and Jermaine Joseph (21.47) advanced to the finals of the 200 meter dash.
The Frogs will send three runners to the final of the 60-meter dash on the women's side as well. Monica Twum (7.45) had the third fastest time in the prelims. She'll be joined in today's finals by Chaunte Baldwin (7.54) and La' Toya White (7.55).
Herbert Mwangi turned in one of his best efforts with a 14:25.07 mark to finish second in the 5,000 meters. Mwangi was five seconds off an NCAA provisional time.
TCU will take to the track again on Saturday in the second day of the Tyson Invitational. The Frogs will compete against some of the nation's top collegiate and professional talent. Field events are slated to begin at 5 p.m. with running events set to start at 6 p.m.
