TCU Begins Busy Week of Track and Field

AUSTIN, Texas – A busy three days for the TCU track and field program began Thursday with student-athletes at the Texas Relays in Austin and at the Bobcat Invitational at Texas State in San Marcos.

The highlight of the TCU day came in San Marcos as Adam Damadzic finished second in the men’s discus competition with a best throw of 174-3 (53.11m). His top throw came on his first throw of the day. He went on to have two more throws that surpassed the 50 meter mark.

TCU’s first runner of the Texas Relays was Lavon Collins in the 400-meter hurdles. The junior finished 10th in a time of 52.47, only .05 seconds off making the nine-man final later on in the week.

Competition at the Texas Relays begins tomorrow at 9:35 a.m. with the women’s 4x100-meter relay. At the Stanford Invitational, Ashley Eckhoff and Laura Orlie’s section of the women’s 5,000-meter run will begin at 12:40 p.m. CDT and Agnes Kemboi will run in the 5,000 later in the day. TCU will also have runners at the Bobcat Invitational in the men’s 1,500-meter run and men’s 800-meter run. The 1,500 is slated to start at 1:25 p.m.
