The TCU Flyin' Frogs recorded five NCAA Regional qualifying marks at the Tom Tellez Invitational, held in on the University of Houston campus on Saturday.

Jerry Harris paced the men's team with a first place finish and an NCAA Regional qualifying mark in the 400 meters with a time of 46.21 seconds, easily winning the race by nearly two seconds. He will join teammate Brandon Simpson in the Regional meet in the 400 meters. Simpson, who did not compete on Saturday recorded a time of 45.86 seconds last week at the Dr Pepper Invitational in Waco.

On the women's side, Donita Harmon (23.3h) and Monica Twum (23.5h) finished one-two in the 200 meter dash, both with Regional qualifying marks. Larissa Bakasa also qualified for the Regional meet at 400 meters with second place time of 55.67. The women's 4x100 meter relay team of La' Toya White, Harmon, Tiffany Starts and Twum, improved its Regional qualifying mark by five one-hundredths of a second to 44.65, edging Houston for the gold medal by one one-hundredth of a second. The quartet circled the track in 44.70 seconds a week ago in Waco.

The Frogs also had a first place performances from Jabari Fields in the 200 meter dash and Justina Malone in the 800 meter run and second place finishes from Brandal Lawrence in the triple jump and Mary Kinyanjui in the 1500 meter run.

Houston captured the team title on both the men's and women's sides, scoring 140.5 and 140 points respectively. The TCU men placed fifth of six teams with 53.3 points, while the TCU women finished last of five teams with 83 points.

"We were a much better team this week than we were last week in Waco," said TCU Head Coach Monte Stratton. "We competed a lot better today and got a few more qualified for regionals. I think maybe the favorable weather had something to do with that. Jerry Harris in the 400 and Donita Harmon in the 200 ran exceptionally well," he noted. "We'll try to get some people healthy this week and get ready for the Texas Relays next weekend."

The Frogs will be in action next weekend when they travel to Austin for the Texas Relays, April 2-5.
