TCU Track & Field Opens Action At Texas Relays Thursday

AUSTIN, Texas -
The TCU track and field program saw its first action on the second day of the 85th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. Four Horned Frogs competed at Mike A. Myers Stadium Thursday.

Sophomore Lavon Collins opened the day in the men’s 400-meter hurdle preliminaries. The Houston, Texas product rallied around the oval with a time of 53.83 seconds to place fifth in his heat and 24th overall out of 45 competitors.

From the infield, junior Sara Talley placed eighth overall in section ‘B’ of the women’s javelin throw. Talley, a native of Resaca, Ga., boasted a top throw of 123-3 feet (36.85m) on her second attempt.

TCU ended the evening with a pair of competitors in the men’s 5,000-meter run. Freshman Preston Newsome crossed the finish line with a time of 15:28.38 for 12th place honors, while sophomore Jake Rossmango followed at 15:47.78 for 15th overall.

The Frogs return to action Friday with a full slate of action, starting with the 4x100 relay at 9:30 a.m.
