The TCU track & field team turned in some of its top marks of the season in the final day of the 75th running of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin on Saturday, but the Flyin' Frogs had their streak of three-straight victories in the sprint relay come to an end.

The Frogs quartet of Michael Frater, Steve Slowly, Jermaine Joseph and Demario Wesley circled the track in a season-best and NCAA provisional time of 39.40, but came in second behind Mississippi State's mark of 39.13. The Frogs held about a two meter lead when Joseph handed the baton to Wesley for the anchor leg, but the junior college transfer, running in his first meet since late February due to an injured left hip flexor, was unable to to hold the lead down the stretch.

"As bad as I hate to lose, I feel very good about what happened," said TCU head coach Monte Stratton. "Demario looked good, he just ran out of gas because he hasn't been able to train like we would like. If he can stay healthy, I like our chances at nationals."

"I cut it loose for about the first 60 meters," Wesley told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "After that, I just broke down. I didn't have anything. If I would have been healthy, I could have held off the dude from Mississippi State."

In other action in Saturday's finals, sophomore Michael Frater finished third in the university division of the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.37 seconds. Freshman La' Toya White ran a personal best time of 11.65 to take fifth place in the women's 100. The women's 4x100 meter relay team of White, Chaunte Baldwin, Tiffany Starts and Monica Twum placed fourth with a time of 44.76. Brandal Lawrence struggled to a 14th place finish in the triple jump with a best mark of 15.10 meters (49-06.50). The men did not compete in the 4x400 meter relay due to a number of injuries on the squad.

Former Flyin' Frogs dominated the invitational 100 meter dash. Kim Collins won the race for the third straight year with a time of 10.18. Darvis Patton placed third in 10.29. Ricardo "Flash" Williams broke the line in 10.33 to take fifth, while Lindel Frater was eighth in 10.51 seconds.

The Frogs return to the track next Saturday in College Station, where they'll take part in the Texas A&M Invitational.
