College Station, Texas - TCU freshman MaKeatha Cooper broke her own school record and was one of five Flyin' Frogs to log an NCAA Regional qualifying mark at the rain-shortened Texas A&M Invitational, held in College Station, Texas on Saturday.

Cooper, a freshman from Grandview, Missouri, posted a school record time of 13.24 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles to take the silver medal behind only Nicole Denby (13.02), the All-American from the University of Texas. Cooper established the school mark at Arlington two weeks ago when she broke the tape in 13.41 seconds. Prior to this season, the TCU record was 13.65 seconds, set by Chessna Davis in 1997.

Senior sprint standout Michael Frater competed in the 100 meter dash for the first time this season and logged an NCAA Regional qualifying mark with a time of 10.42 seconds, good for third place. The five-time All-American and a third place finisher at the 2003 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 100 meters, Frater has been plagued all year by a toe injury. This was the first individual event he has competed in since last summer.

Other TCU Regional qualifying marks were turned in by 400 meter specialist Larissa Bakasa, who turned in a personal best time of 53.87 seconds; Jerry Harris, who won the men's 400 meters with a time of 46.38; and Aundre Edwards, who captured the long jump time with a best leap of 7.61 meters (24-11.75).

"We had several individual look very sharp, especially for this time of the season," said TCU head coach Monte Stratton. "It was disappointing that the rain kept us from finishing the meet. However, we were able to get them through healthy, which is the most important thing. This was a bit of dress rehearsal for the regional meet, which will be held here in late May. Now we can focus on our own home meet and competing in front of our fans next week."

The Frogs return to action next Saturday when they host the fifth annual TCU Invitational on the Lowdon Track & Field Complex. The field events are slated to begin at 11:00 a.m., while the running events get underway at noon.
