TCU set a school record in the men's distance medley relay, highlighting the Horned Frogs' efforts on day two of the 111th running of the Penn Relays Friday at venerable Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

The distance medley relay quartet of Jackson Langat (1200 meters), Brett Wilson (400), Jacob Hernandez (800) and Kip Kangogo (1600) turned in a time of 9:36.14 to place seventh in the outstanding field. The Frogs ran splits of 2:57.3, 46.3, 1:47.3 and 4:05.2 respectively. They cut more than six seconds off their school record time of 9:42.95 set earlier this season at the Texas Relays. Michigan won the race in 9:22.57, just ahead of Arkansas, which ran a 9:28.79.

"That's a decent DMR school record," said TCU head coach Darryl Anderson. "It was a really fast race. We were solidly in third place behind Michigan and Arkansas, but Kip may have gone out a little too fast in the first 800 meters and was passed in the final 200 meters by four teams. It was still a strong effort for us."

The men's 4x100 meter relay squad won its heat in a time of 40.30 seconds to advance to Saturday's College Championship. The foursome of Delwayne Delaney, Cleavon Dillon, Jay Cooper and Bradley Reed logged the fifth fastest time in the heats behind LSU, Florida, Tennessee and Arkansas.

The sprint medley relay of Otis McDaniel (200), Bradley Reed (200), Brett Wilson (400) and Jackson Langat (800) placed fourth behind Texas Tech, Auburn and Tennessee with a time of 3:17.38.

"We ran as well as we could from lane two," said Anderson. "It's very difficult to run here when you are inside that rail. I know we are as good as any of the teams in that race."

In other action on Friday, Cleavon Dillon placed fifth in the College Men Long Jump Championship flight with a mark of 7.45 meters (24-05.50). MaKeatha Cooper finished 13th in the women's 100 meter hurdles prelims with a time of 13.77 seconds. Otis McDaniel tied for ninth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.83 seconds. Kandis Bell, running the anchor leg of the women's 4x100 meter relay squad pulled up and was unable to finish the race.

The Penn Relays wraps up on Saturday. The Frogs will be represented in the men's 4x100 meter relay finals and by Joe Brown in the javelin throw.
