TCU took three of the top five spots in the long jump and sent a bevy of runners to Saturday's finals as day two of Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships came to a close today at Cardinal Park.
The long jumping trio of Cleavon Dillon, Aundre Edwards and Kimton Coleman put 18 points on the board for the Horned Frogs on Friday. The TCU sprinters came through as expected. The Frogs sent four sprinters to Saturday's finals in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Sophomore Michael Frater recorded the meet's best time in both the 100 and 200. LaTarence Dunbar reached the finals in the 110-meter high hurdles, Terrance McBryde recorded the second best time in the 400 and Jason Morgan advanced to Saturday's final with the second best time in the 800.
On the women's side, TCU sent all four runners to the finals in the 100, while Monica Twum and La' Toya White also advanced to the finals of the 200. Twum recorded the meet's fastest qualifying time in both the 100 and 200, including a season-best and NCAA provisional clocking of 23.49 in the 200. Quartermiler Larissa Bakasa and the 800-meter duo of Perhona Tomlin and Justina Malone also advanced to Saturday's finals.
"It was another good day," said TCU Head Coach Monte Stratton. "We came through the prelims in good shape and everyone seems to be healthy. We'll run hard tomorrow and then total the points and see how we do."
