Silmon, Young advance to 100m Semifinals

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Former Frogs Charles Silmon and Jessica Young moved on to Friday's semifinals in the men's and women's 100 meters, respectively, at the USATF Championships Thursday at Hornet Stadium.

Silmon, the 2013 NCAA Champion in the 100 meters, won his heat and had the second-fastest time in the first round at 10.17 seconds, while Young, the TCU school record holder in the 100 meters, placed third in her heat to move on with the time of 11.55.

The women's semifinals are set for 7:51 p.m. Friday, while the men's semifinals are scheduled for 8:07 p.m.

In addition, Whitney Gipson, the 2012 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor champion, will compete in the long jump final Saturday at 2:15 p.m.
