Silmon, Young Place 4th, 7th at USATF

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Former TCU student-athletes Charles Silmon and Jessica Young closed out competition at the USATF Championships Friday by placing fourth and seventh, respectively, in the men's and women's 100 meters at Hornet Stadium.
Silmon posted the time of 10.28 seconds in the final and was just five one-hundredths of a second out of second place in the tight race. Mike Rodgers won the event at 10.09.
Young finished with the time of 11.53 in the women's final.
Silmon, the 2013 NCAA Champion in the 100 meters, punched his ticket into the finals earlier in the day by winning his heat with the time of 10.17 in the semifinals, while Young, the TCU school record holder in the 100 meters, made her way into the evening finals by placing fourth in her heat at 11.18 in the afternoon semis.
Former Frog Whitney Gipson, the 2012 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Champion, will compete in the long jump Saturday at 2:15 p.m.
