Gipson is Fifth in Long Jump at USATF

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Former TCU Horned Frog Whitney Gipson placed fifth in the women's long jump on Day Four of the USATF Championships at Hornet Stadium.

Gipson, the 2012 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor long jump champion, recorded the mark of 21 feet, 4 inches on her fourth jump of the afternoon. Brittney Reese won the event with the mark of 22-8.50.

On her first jump of the day Gipson went 20-9 and then went over 21 feet on her fourth jump. She fouled on her last two jumps.

Former Frogs Charles Silmon (10.28) and Jessica Young (11.53) placed fourth and seventh, respectively, in the men's and women's 100 meters Friday.
