COLLEGE STATION, Texas –
Junior thrower Kelsey Samuels claimed a pair of field events to lead TCU at the 2011 Texas A&M Reveille Invitational. Overall, TCU won seven events inside the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium Saturday.

Samuels got her day started by pacing the field in the women’s shot put with a top mark of 47-8 ½ feet, followed by junior Sara Talley and freshman Megan Smith in third and fourth place, respectively. Samuels would later round out her evening with a top mark of 56-11 ½ to claim the women’s weight throw title.

Junior Cameron Tabor took the men’s shot put title, boasting a push of 56-9 ½ feet in his fifth attempt. The Norman, Okla., native has won the event at Texas A&M in each of the last three seasons. Sophomore Paul Osunwa earned runner-up honors.

From the air, freshman Lorraine Ugen captured the women’s long jump title in her first collegiate meet, posting her best jump of 20-2 ½ feet on her first attempt to hold the lead from start to finish. With the victory by Ugen, TCU has now taken the women’s long jump titles at the Texas A&M Reveille Invitational in each of the last three seasons.

Newcomer Ramone Bailey completed the long jump sweep with a top distance of 23-10 feet on his initial leap. The Kingston, Jamaica product out-performed runner-up Simon Stewart from Houston and TCU senior Cameron Parker in third.

Sophomore Charles Silmon got his junior indoor campaign off to a great start, running 6.68 to pace the field in the men’s 60 meters. His clocking topped all of his indoor performances from 2010. Senior Jack O’Brien finished second among collegiate competitors and fifth overall in the 800 meters, just behind former Frog Sean Zurko.

On the women’s side, sophomore Briyanni Thomas led the way in the 800 meters, clocking in at 2:12.08 to take first-place honors, while junior Chaniqua Corinealdi took third overall in the 60 meters.

TCU’s quartet of Hayley Shade, Quinterra Charles, Thomas and newcomer Ashley Collins crossed the finish line second overall in the women's 4x400 relay. On the men’s side, Narada Jackson, Joshua Washington, OJ Stoneham and Matt Love finished in third place.

TCU will resume its indoor season in January after returning from the holiday break.
