Hodge tabbed MWC Female Athlete of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU junior sprinter Virgil Hodge has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
A native of Basseterre, St. Kitts, Hodge earned two victories with two NCAA provisional marks this past weekend at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Hodge won the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes. In the 60 meters, Hodge earned a provisional qualifying time with a mark of 7.43. Her time is also tops in the Mountain West this season.
In the 200 meters, Hodge posted the eighth-fastest time in the country and fourth fastest in league history en route to a victory with a clocking of 23.64 in the prelims and finals. Like her time in the 60, Hodge's time in the 200 is the fastest in the conference this season.
In 2006, Hodge received All-America accolades at the NCAA Outdoor Championships by placing seventh in the 200 meters. Hodge also won the 200 meters at the MWC Indoor Championships. She was also victorious in the 100 and 200 at the MWC Outdoor Championships.
The MWC Athlete of the Week honor is the second in Hodge's career. She also won the honor on Jan. 17, 2006.
