FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs open postseason action this weekend at the 2012 Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. The three-day meet starts Thursday, Feb. 23, inside the Albuquerque Convention Center, with the women’s pentathlon and men’s heptathlon. The full schedule of events is slated for Friday and Saturday.
Fans not able to attend this weekend’s championship meet can follow the results live from the World Wide Web. FROGS LOOK TO EXTEND IMPRESSIVE STREAKS
Heading into competition in Albuquerque, TCU will look to continue several impressive performances. In the men’s 60 meters, TCU has claimed the MWC event-title for six-consecutive years, while on the women’s side, the Frogs have captured the crown for five-straight seasons. TCU has also dominated in the 4x400 relay, taking the women’s title in six-straight meets and the men’s crown four times in the last six years.
TOP BILLINGS IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST
Heading into the weekend, TCU currently holds the top spot in the Mountain West in nine events, including both the men’s and women’s 4x400 relay. Juniors Charles Silmon (6.66) and Chaniqua Corinealdi (7.47) both pace the league in the 60-meter dash, while Mark Barnes (21.45) and Corinealdi (24.20) lead the conference in the 200 meters. Larissa Matthews holds the fastest 60-meter hurdles times at 8.53 seconds. From the field events, Whitney Gipson’s leap of 20-10 ¾ feet in the women’s long jump is tops and Cameron Tabor’s top toss of 57-11 ¾ feet lead all men in the shot put.

TCU enters the 2012 Mountain West Indoor Championships with 10 all-conference individuals. Five Frogs come into the weekend boasting MWC gold medals. The Purple and White are also the defending champions in the women’s 4x400 relay.

GIVE US A SHOT
The Horned Frogs’ throwers on the women’s side enter the 2012 MW Indoor Championships having won the Mountain West Conference indoor shot put title in five of the last six seasons. Junior Kelsey Samuels currently ranks third in the MW on the women’s side, while junior Cameron Tabor paces the league. In 2009, TCU’s Candis Kelley became the first female student-athlete in MWC history to win the women’s shot put title four-straight years.
HOME MEET INFORMATION
TCU will once again host a meet this spring at the Lowdon Track & Field Complex. The Purple and White will kickoff the outdoor season with the sixth annual Horned Frog Invitational, March 15-17.
