Fourteen Flyin' Frogs tabbed All-MWC
Feb. 28, 2006
FT. WORTH, Texas - Fourteen individuals and three relay teams from the TCU men and women's track and field teams have been selected to the 2006 All-Mountain West Conference Indoor Track and Field Teams, as announced by the league office Tuesday. Both the men and women squads received an equal number of individual awards with seven apiece.
In addition, the TCU men had two relay teams (4x400 and Distance Medley) recognized all-conference, while the women's side had one pick in its 4x400 meter relay unit of Virgil Hodge, Deborah Jones, Nathandra John and Kishelle Paul.
Both Lewis Banda and Jackson Langat each notched one individual honor as well as both relay accolades. At last week's MWC Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M, both seniors were part of the winning 4x400 relay and distance medley squads. In the individual events, Banda won the 400 meters and Langat took the gold in the 800 meters.
Hodge, a sophomore from St. Kitts, Caribbean, also earned a pair of individual All-MWC honors as she took first place in both the 60 meter and 200 meter events.
TCU finished third in their respective divisions at the league's indoor championship last week. The Frogs captured 11 individual titles and had both the men and women's 4x400 meter relay squads shatter the previous meet records.
BYU topped the list in both divisions with the men leading the way with 16 honorees, while the Cougar women had nine individual selections.
