Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week

March 18, 2014

TCU student-athletes Tyler Alexander and Lorraine Ugen have been named Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week honors for their recent performances.

Alexander, a freshman left-handed pitcher on the baseball team, pitched a career-high seven scoreless innings in the Sunday game against Dartmouth. He allowed just five hits, walked a batter and tallied a career-high five strikeouts.

The No. 27 Horned Frogs won the series against Dartmouth 3-0 to improve to 12-7 overall for the season. The Horned Frogs will head north to Oklahoma for a non-conference tilt against the Sooners tonight. Game time at L. Dale Mitchell Park in Norman is set for 6:30 p.m.

Ugen, a junior on the track and field team, claimed the national title in the long jump on Friday night at the NCAA Indoor National Championship in Albuquerque, N.M. She clipped off a jump of 22 feet, 1 inch for her fifth jump of the day to win the women's long jump by more than a foot over Florida State's Der'Renae Freeman (20-10). Ugen entered the meet with the top jump in the country at 21-07.50 that she set in winning the Big 12 Conference long jump championship two weeks ago.

The Horned Frogs open the outdoor season with the 2014 TCU Collegiate Invitational on March 20-21 at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex.
