FORT WORTH – The TCU track and field teams have their final weekend of regular season competition this weekend with student-athletes at multiple meets. The Horned Frogs will have four women competing at the Mt. SAC Relays in Los Angeles on Friday while the rest of the squad will compete at the Michael Johnson Classic in Waco on Saturday.

“It is the last regular season meet,” TCU head coach Darryl Anderson noted. “We want to go into the postseason with some momentum. We want to go to Waco and perform well. Our training has gotten better over the last 10 days, people are zeroing in on the goals of this season.”

The Horned Frogs are coming off a strong performance at the Texas Invitational. TCU earned six event wins, including a sweep of the relay events. The Frogs are looking to peak at the right time, with the Big 12 Championships two weeks away and the NCAA West Preliminaries a little over a month away.

“To say that the indoor season went how we wanted would be a misrepresentation of what actually happened,” Anderson noted. We are looking at the outdoor season as a chance to redeem ourselves. When you are young, seeing the big picture and the long-term goals is hard. They are now starting to see that the Big 12s, NCAA West Preliminaries and NCAA Championships are right around the corner. They are starting to pick up the pace as far as training goes.”

The Horned Frogs will be represented by Ashley Eckhoff, Agnes Kemboi and Tricia Terry in the 5,000-meter run and Briyanni Thomas in the 800-meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays. Eckhoff and Kemboi both ran the 5,000 at the Stanford Invitational in March while Terry will be making her season debut in the event. All four will be looking to post or improve on times in an effort to make the NCAA West Preliminaries.

The Michael Johnson Classic will feature competitors from 16 different colleges and universities and a deep field of unattached and professional competitors. Competition starts Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with the women’s javelin.
