FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU men's and women's track and field teams will compete close to home Saturday in the Michael Johnson Invitational hosted by Baylor University.

"We are off of our grand world tour," TCU track and field coach Darryl Anderson said. "We've been to the East coast and the West coast and everywhere in between and now we get to go down the street."

The Frogs recently competed in the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., and the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational in Los Angeles.

"We've seen Baylor before and we've seen Texas before so the meet has a Big 12 flavor to it," Anderson said. "It's one of those things if you're in a chess match you're kind of moving your pieces around to see what you're going to do as you move into championship season which is conference, regionals and nationals."

In addition to Baylor, Texas and TCU, the meet will feature teams from Angelo State, George Mason, SMU (women) Texas A&M Corpus-Christi, Tulsa and UT-Arlington.

The women's javelin kicks off the field events at 9:30 a.m. while the running events are set to begin at 1 p.m.

The meet will be contested at the Hart-Patterson Track & Field Complex in Waco.
