FORT WORTH
– The declaration lists for the NCAA West Preliminaries were announced on Thursday. The TCU track and field program has a total of 24 entries for the meet May 23-25 in Austin that will determine who will compete in the final rounds of the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. two weeks later. The top-12 in each event will advance to the competition at Hayward Field June 5-8.

The No. 19 TCU men’s team has 13 entries and will travel 11 student-athletes to Austin. Charles Silmon will be one of the featured performers, going into the meet seeded No. 5 in the 100-meter dash and No. 3 in the 200-meter dash. The six-time All-American and four-time Big 12 Champion will also be part of the men’s 4x100-meter relay team that is seeded No. 6. The Horned Frogs will run their conference championships 4x100-meter relay team that also featured freshmen Ronnie Baker, Raymond Bozmans and Harvey McSwain.

All three of the freshmen will also be competing in individual events in Austin. Baker goes into the West Preliminaries as the No. 10 seed in the 400-meter dash, Bozmans Big 12 runner-up effort earned him a spot in the 100-meter dash and McSwain is in the 200-meter dash.

The freshmen trio will also be part of the relay pool for the No. 11-seeded men’s 4x400-meter relay squad. Also aiming to be one of the four will be Lavon Collins, Narada Jackson and Joshua Washington.

Collins and Jackson will also have individual events to focus on at the meet. Collins is entered in the 400-meter hurdles, and Jackson will join Baker in the 400-meter dash.

TCU’s Big 12 champion in the triple jump Cameron Parker earned the No. 2 seed in the triple jump, and was only five centimeters away from being the top seed. Joining him in the jumping events is Ramone Bailey, who is entered in the long jump contest.

The Horned Frogs men will also be represented by two throwers with Adam Damadzic competing in the discus and Paul Osunwa taking part in the shot put.

The TCU women’s team has 11 entries in the meet and will have eight student-athletes making the trip to Austin. Indoor All-American Lorraine Ugen will be looking to get to Eugene in the long jump to continue to add to her collection for the season. She will also compete as part of the women’s 4x100-meter relay, who go into the meet seeded No. 11.

The women’s 4x100 team also features two other student-athletes who will have individual events to focus on, too. Veronica Jones will compete in the 200-meter dash, and Larissa Matthews will take part in the 100-meter hurdles. Chaniqua Corinealdi will be the other 4x100 participant.

Another TCU competitor facing double duty is Megan Smith. The sophomore thrower will compete in the shot put and discus. She will be joined in the shot put by Kelsey Samuels, and the TCU throwers will also be represented by Makena Schroder in the javelin.

Other TCU women’s competitors are Samantha Reynolds in the triple jump, Briyanni Thomas in the 800-meter run and Agnes Kemboi in the 5,000-meter run. There is still a chance for TCU to have one final addition to its regional lineup. Ashley Eckhoff is the first alternate for the women’s 5,000-meter run. If there is a medical scratch for the 5,000 between now and the scratch deadline of Sunday at 4 p.m., she will have the first chance to accept an open spot.

The NCAA West Preliminaries start next Thursday at noon with the men’s discus. Track events begin at 4:30 p.m. with TCU’s first event being the men’s 400-meter hurdles at 5 p.m.
