Young Makes 100-Meter Finals at USA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. - Senior Jessica Young worked her way into the top-eight in the women's 100 meters for TCU at the 2011 U.S.A. Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field Friday.
The Columbia, S.C., native finished seventh overall in the 100-meter finals heat, registering a seasonal-best time of 11.08 seconds. Young burned through the women's 100-meter semifinals earlier in the day, clocking a time of 11.11 for fourth place overall and runner-up distinction in the her heat to reach the finals.
Sophomore Charles Silmon also competed Friday, blazing a time of 10.21 in the men's 100-meter semifinals. The Waco, Texas, native finished 13th overall and missed qualifying for the finals heat.
Young and Silmon will attempt to qualify in the 200-meter dash Saturday.
Four-time U.S. champion and TCU Letterman's Hall of Famer Khadevis Robinson continues to run well, winning his semifinal heat in the men's 800 meters with a time of 1:48.78. Robinson will return to the oval for the finals Sunday.
