Schedule

FORT WORTH, Texas The TCU track and field team announced its schedule for the 2015 season today, as the Frogs look to build from their 17 NCAA Championship participants and women’s indoor long jump national title last season.

“We feel like it’s a very competitive schedule,” TCU track & field coach Darryl Anderson said. “Obviously, the highlight meets are the conference meets and nationals. The other meets like the Drake Relays and the Texas Relays are the two hotspot meets where we really want to have some success.”

The indoor season will begin at the Texas A&M Invitational on Jan. 17. After a week off, the Horned Frogs will compete in the New Mexico Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., on Jan. 31.

TCU will return to College Station for the Aggie Invitational on Feb. 6-7 and travels to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Invitational on Feb. 13-14.

The Big 12 Indoor Championships will be hosted by Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, from Feb. 27-28. The 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships will be held in Fayetteville, Ark., from March 13-15.

TCU opens the outdoor slate with five-straight meets in the state of Texas, beginning at home in Fort Worth. The 15th-annual TCU Invitational will be held on March 20, with the TCU High School Invite on March 21. TCU will also host the Horned Frog Invitational on May 2. It is the first time since 2010 that TCU will host two events at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex.

“We always seem to compete really well at home competitions,” Anderson said. “So, I think our schedule will allow us to be where we want to be, which is preparing to do well at the conference meet, preparing to get people to the regional meet and from the regional meet, putting them in a position to get to the end result and that’s Eugene, Ore., for the national championship.”

The Horned Frogs will compete in the 88th annual Texas Relays in Austin from March 25-28. The following weekend, TCU travels to Waco for the first of two events hosted by Baylor, which will be the first at their new track & field facility. The Baylor Invitational is April 4 and the Michael Johnson Classic is on April 18. The Horned Frogs will split up on April 11 for the Wes Kittley Invitational in Abilene, as well as the Mt. SAC relays in Walnut, Calif.

On April 24, TCU will split competitors again for the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, Calif.

Iowa State University will host the Big 12 Outdoor Championships in Ames, Iowa, from May 15-17. The NCAA West Preliminaries will be held in Austin, Texas, from May 28-30, followed by the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., from June 11-13.

The conclusion of the outdoor season will be the USA Junior/Senior Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The date and location of the championships has yet to be determined.
