FORT WORTH - Whitney Gipson has not rested much since the end of her career representing the TCU track and field program. Competing at the Hungarian Grand Prix last weekend, Gipson finished second in the long jump with a leap of 6.66m (21-10 1/4).
The meet in the Hungarian capital of Budapest was the third for Gipson since competing at the U.S. Olympic Trials in July. She has also competed in Paris and Luzern, Switzerland.
Gipson was the NCAA Champion in the long jump both indoors and outdoors. At the NCAA Indoor Championships in March, Gipson's winning jump of 22-8 tied the NCAA Indoor record. She set the school's outdoor record in the long jump at 22-10 1/2 at the Olympic Trials, finishing fourth and just missing out on a trip to London.
