TCU Posts Strong Showing at Reveille Invite

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU track and field team opened its 2013-14 season with a strong showing at the Texas A&M Reveille Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Horned Frogs won three event titles while placing a student-athlete among in the top five finishers in 12 events.

On the women's side, senior Tricia Terry won the mile run, finishing with a 4:52.64. Junior throws specialist Megan Smith added a first-place finish in the shot put with a 15.78m finals toss. Senior Veronica Jones added a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter (24.35) while junior Lorraine Ugen was TCU's top finisher in the 60-meter dash (7.59).

Among the nine freshman who saw their first collegiate action Saturday, Makaila Flannigan finished fourth overall in the 60-meter hurdles (8.73) while Anna Robinson was the Frogs top performer in the long jump (5.66m). Newcomers Tiffany Terry and Alexandria Peters also combined with senior Briyanni Thomas and junior Nefertari Hall for a fourth-place overall finish in the 4x400-meter relay (3:44.89).

On the men's side, senior Cameron Tabor led TCU with a first-place finish in the shot put with a 16.70m finals toss while adding a sixth-place overall finish in the weight throw (16.29m). Freshman Cameron Echols-Luper was the Horned Frogs top finisher in the long jump (7.27m) followed closely by junior Ramone Bailey (7.20m).

In running events, sophomores Kolby Listenbee and Ronnie Baker paced TCU in the 60-meter dash with a 6.75 and 6.76, respectively. Classmate Sam Watts added a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash (21.43) while freshman D'Andre Lewis finished third overall in the 800-meter run (1:55.75). Freshman Jordan Moore took silver in the 60-meter hurdles (7.93) while TCU's top 4x400-meter relay team of Seniors Narada Jackson and Lavon Collins, junior Joshua Washington and Baker also took second (3:08.61).

TCU makes its return to College Station following semester break to continue its indoor season with the Texas A&M Invitational on Jan. 18, 2014.
