April 14, 2005
TCU Head Volleyball Coach Prentice Lewis announced today the signing of high school senior Nirelle Hampton, who will join the team in the fall of 2005-06, joining Kourtney Edwards, Devon Kirk and Gabi McHugh as the newest Horned Frogs.
Hampton, a 5'11" Gainesville, Fla., native (P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School), plays for the Gainesville Juniors club team. Highly decorated both on and off the court, Hampton received first team all-state recognition from eighth grade to senior year. Gaining national exposure, she has been involved with US Volleyball through the summer High Performance camps, and for the past two years, she has played on the junior national A-2 team. Additionally, Hampton has earned numerous academic honors.
A younger sister to TCU's assistant volleyball coach, Linda, Hampton has three other siblings, Vincent, William and Marcie, and is the daughter of Kim Hampton.
"I am very excited to add Nirelle to the lineup," Head Coach Prentice Lewis said. "I know she will make a great impact on and for the team."
