FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU volleyball team made it a night of firsts with its 3-1 win over the University of Texas-Arlington Tuesday night. For the first time since the Frogs were 11-5 in 1997 the Frogs have a winning record in the month of September. The win marked TCU's first ever win in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum and its first win against Texas-Arlington. TCU also recorded its first victory of the season when losing game one.

"It was definitely a night of first" said head coach Sandy Troudt. "I am so excited to have beaten UTA for the first time and have a winning record in the month of September, we have not been over .500 in September since 1997."

The Frogs jumped out to a 5-0 lead in game one but failed to put the Mavericks away as they came back to win 15-10. Things turned around for TCU in game two as the Mavericks hit -.059 while TCU hit .227 to take game two.

The Frogs cruised through games three and four (15-6, 15-7) to end the match.

Sophomore outside hitter/defensive specialist Jennifer Cuca provided the Frogs with some spark off the bench recording eight kills and only one error on 16 attack for a .438 hitting percentage, she also recorded a season-high 10 digs.

"Cuca played so well for us tonight," said Troudt. "She has been up and down to start the season, but tonight may have been her break out game - she so capable of playing like this well every night."

A night in without mentioning Amy Atamanczuk, Lindsay Hayes or Marci King is not likely. Atamanczuk and King each had 16 kills on 30 attacks to lead the Frogs, while Hayes added 49 assist to her new TCU career record.

The Frogs host the TCU Invitational this Friday and Saturday in the Rickel Center. The round-robin tournament features four other teams: Cal-State Fullerton, Montana State, Tulane and San Francisco with play beginning at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning.
