Women's Team Places Sixth at Texas A&M Invite

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Led by sophomore Kirsten Johnston's 19th-place finish in the 6,000-meter race, the women's cross country team finished sixth overall at the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station on Saturday morning.

Johnston paced the women's squad with a time of 21:28.1, marking a career best for the Mont Belvieu, Texas native. Sophomore Brenley Goertzen also set a career best in the 6K as she clocked in with a time of 21:45.5, placing 26th.

Three Horned Frogs took part in what was their first 6K race in Purple and White. Junior Anna Cozart did not run a 6K last season, and she set a time of 22:04.2 on Saturday, breaking her previous career best by 59 seconds. Freshman Lindsay Tomaini followed closely, logging a time of 22:12.0, and freshman Kelly Fairchild set her first 6K mark at 22:52.7.

In the men's 8,000-meter race, junior Henry Butz led with a career-best time of 26:47.3. Senior Ryan Spetnagel also posted a career best as he crossed the finish line at 27:00.8.

Overall, five Frogs set career bests in College Station.

Up next, TCU will head to Fayetteville, Ark. on Oct. 1 for a 9 a.m. contest at the Chile Pepper Festival.
