Women's Team Finishes Third in Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The TCU women's cross country turned in a strong performance at the 28th annual Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. on Saturday morning. Paced by sophomore Brenley Goertzen, the women's squad finished third among 18 schools.

Saturday's effort marks the best finish in program history at the meet. Their previous best was a seventh-place finish in 2004.

Goertzen led the Horned Frogs charge as she raced to a 16th-place time of 17:06.28 in the 5,000-meter race. Sophomores Kirsten Johnston (17:29.39) and Anna Cozart (17:31.34) followed closely in 20th and 21st. Junior Nicole Hicks made an impact in her return to the team with a time of 17:48.25, and freshman Lindsay Tomaini continued to have a successful first year as she clocked in at 18:09.34. All eight Frogs that competed earned career-best times.

TCU will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Incarnate Word Invitational in San Antonio, Texas. Races are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
