Women's Team Places 10th at Pre-Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Led by a ninth-place finish for sophomore Brenley Goertzen, the women's cross country team came in 10th place at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday afternoon.

Goertzen clocked in with a career-best time of 21:25.7 in the 6,000-meter race. Sophomore Anna Cozart led the second group of Horned Frogs as she finished at 22:09.7, and junior Nicole Hicks crossed the finish line at 22:26.8. As a squad, TCU finished the 6K with an average time of 22:24.

"The goal going in was to finish in the top 10 so we were able to achieve that. Brenley ran extremely well and continues to improve every time out, while Anna [Cozart] and Nicole [Hicks] also took a step forward. It is a tough course and another level of competition we are not used to, but it was good prep for Big 12 and what we want to continue to build here."

The Frogs will take the next week off before traveling to Lubbock, Texas, for the Big 12 Championships on Oct. 29.
