TCU places 45 on Academic All-MWC Team

FORT WORTH, Texas - Fourty-five TCU student-athletes were named to the Fall 2008 Academic All-Mountain West Conference team, as announced by the league office on Monday.
This semester's 45 Horned Frog selections marked TCU's highest total during the fall term since joining the Mountain West Conference in 2006. The program posted 42 selections last fall, 36 in 2006-07 and 27 honorees during its inaugural MWC season in 2005-06.
Headlining the Academic All-MWC honorees were 16 women's soccer players, marking the top group among TCU's five fall athletic squads. The Frog football team placed 11 student-athletes on the list, while women's cross country (seven), volleyball (six) and men's cross country (five) each garnered multiple individual honors.
A total of 384 student-athletes were named to the Fall 2008 Academic All-Mountain West Conference team. Fall sports include men's and women's cross country, football, women's soccer and women's volleyball.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
