NEW ORLEANS - The TCU women's cross country team was selected as one of the top teams in its region Monday by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Horned Frogs were ranked fifth in the South Central Region.

TCU returns an array of talent from its squad which finished 11th at last season's Regional Championships. Senior Agnes Kemboi qualified for the NCAA Championships and was named to the South Central All-Region team. Fellow senior Tricia Terry finished in the top-40 at last season's Regional Championship as well, and will be important to the Horned Frogs' success in 2012.

The Big 12 was well represented in the USTFCCCA women's preseason rankings. Texas is ranked second in the South Central Region, and Baylor checked in fourth. In the Midwest Region Iowa State and Oklahoma State are first and second, respectively, and Kansas and Kansas State also made the preseason Midwest top-15. West Virginia checked in fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

The Horned Frogs kick off their campaign Friday at the Bear Twilight Invitational in Waco. The meet starts with the women's race at 7 p.m. with the men's competition following.
