FORT WORTH – TCU begins its 2012 cross country season Friday as the Horned Frogs compete at the Bear Twilight Invitational in Waco. The women will run a 4K that starts at 7 p.m. with the men’s 6K race following afterwards.

“We are viewing it as a workout opportunity,” cross country head coach Liz Wort said. “We don’t have our full team together yet, but it will be a good racing experience for all the competitors on a grass loop. It will be nice to compete against good teams such as Baylor and Texas A&M, teams we will see later on in the year.”

Hosts and Big 12 opponent Baylor and Texas A&M are among the competition. SMU will have its women’s team there as well.

The TCU women scheduled to compete include seniors Katie Dalton, Agnes Kemboi and Tricia Terry, junior Shannon Speir, sophomores Carlie Brittan and Rachel Vanlandingham and freshmen Courtney Cochran, Ashley Eckhoff, Maggie Escobar and Genna McCarthy.

The Horned Frogs men’s squad will feature senior Dave Emerson, junior Jake Rossmango and sophomores Kevin Case, Taylor Moult, Preston Newsome, Mason Richards and Connor Wilkins.
