TCU Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week

Nov. 16, 2016

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Brenley Goertzen of women's cross country and Alex Robinson of men's basketball have been named TCU's Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week based on impressive performances.

Goertzen earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Cross Country Championships after finishing sixth overall at the regional meet in Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday. Goertzen found herself in 10th after the 2K split but stayed with the front pack throughout the race. The Woodbury, Minn., native ended up crossing the finish line at 20:38.2 to solidify one of the four individual spots at the sport's most prestigious meet. Goertzen will be the first Horned Frog to represent TCU at nationals since Agnes Kemboi earned a trip in 2012.

The NCAA Championships will take place Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind.

Robinson recorded 16 points on 7-of-11 from the field in his TCU debut as the Frogs took down St. Thomas, 82-64, in front of 6,075 spectators. Robinson's seven made field goals tied a previous career-high. The Fort Worth native did most of his damage in the second half, tallying 14 of 16 in the period.

The Horned Frogs (2-0) will return to the court on Friday, Nov. 18 to take on Jacksonville State inside the Schollmaier Arena. Tipoff is at 6 p.m. CT.
