Posted a 9-3 record in 17 starts on the mound... compiled a 3.01 ERA in a team-high 98 2/3 innings pitched... also led the team with 93 strikeouts... made his season debut on Feb. 9 at UCF... allowed a run on four hits and struck out five en route to the victory... improved to 2-0 on the season with six shutout innings against Oral Roberts (Feb. 16)... he fanned eight and walked just one Golden Eagle... suffered his first loss of the campaign on Feb. 23 at Coastal Carolina after giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits in three innings of work... bounced back with a dominating performance against Vermont on March 2... allowed an unearned run on six hits and struck out seven in 6 1/3 innings of work... fell to 3-2 on the season in a loss to Rice on March 9... struck out a season-high 11 batters with eight shutout frames against Air Force on March 16.... turned in another double-digit strikeout performance at BYU on March 22... fanned 10 in six innings, but got the no-decision in a game eventually won by the Frogs... after giving up five runs (four earned) in 4 2/3 innings at UC Santa Barbara on March 31 bounced back with another dominating performance against Air Force on April 5... allowed just one run on five hits in 6 1/3 innings against the Falcons... picked up his sixth win of the season at UNLV on April 13... was the tough-luck loser against BYU on April 19 after surrendering just one run on six hits in 7 1/3 innings of work... had a no-decision in a start against San Diego State on April 27... improved to 7-3 with a win at Utah on May 4... allowed three runs on eight hits in 7 1/3 innings of work... pushed his record to 8-3 with a solid performance against UT Pan American on May 11... allowed just two runs (one earned) on five hits in 7 2/3 innings... had another no-decision against New Mexico on May 17 after allowed three unearned runs... dominated UNLV in the MWC Tournament, tossing seven shutout innings to pick up his ninth win of the season... made his final appearance on June 1 against Baylor in the NCAA Houston (Rice) Regional... he allowed a run on two hits and struck out four in six innings.

2006 Summer:
Became the first Horned Frog to play for Team USA... helped lead the National team to their first-ever gold medal in tournament played on Cuban soil... surrendered just one earned run in 35 innings pitched for a 0.27 ERA... was 4-0 in six starts... allowed just 10 hits and struck out 34... combined to shutout three opponents (Chinese Taipei, Nevada, Czech Republic)... held opponents to a 107 batting average.

2006 (Sophomore):
Finished tied for the national lead in wins with 14... led the team with a 2.35 ERA in 19 appearances... started 17 contests, finishing with a 14-4 record... struck out 111 batters in 111 innings pitched... held opponents to a .231 batting average... also picked up one save... was 6-1 in seven conference starts... had a miniscule 1.12 ERA... led the squad with 45 Ks in 48 innings pitched... held opponents to a .214 batting average... splashed onto the Division I scene with a six-inning performance against NCAA-qualifier, Houston (Feb.11)... allowed one run on two hits and struck out five, earning MWC Pitcher of the Week honors... picked up win No. 2 with 5.1 innings against UT-Pan Am (Feb. 18)... gave up three runs (one earned) on seven hits... improved to 3-0 with a seven-inning performance against Wright State... racked up his first double-digit strikeout game of the season (10)... didn't allow a run in eight innings against Florida Atlantic (March 3)... struck out a career-high 13 and walked just two... suffered his first loss of the season against Rice (March 10)... allowed four runs on six hits in five innings... earned his lone save of the season with a scoreless inning against Texas State (March 14)... after surrendering seven runs in 4.2 innings against UC-Santa Barbara (March 18), rebounded with seven strong innings against UCF (March 24)... allowed just one run on seven hits and struck out nine... picked up win No. 7 at the MWC Preseason Tournament against UNLV... tossed 7.2 innings and didn't surrender an earned run or walk, while striking out 10... extended his scoreless innings pitched streak to 18.2 with five shutout innings against Air Force (April 7)... surrendered just one hit and struck out seven... was charged with the tough-luck loss at Oklahoma (April 11) after allowing an unearned run... came back and tossed a seven-inning gem against UNLV (April 14)... struck out eight and allowed just one run on two hits... improved to 9-3 at BYU (April 20)... suffered his final loss of the season at San Diego State (April 28)... allowed just two runs (one earned) on eight hits... picked up win No. 10 with a complete-game shutout of Utah (May 5)... struck out 11 and gave up just five hits in being named MWC Pitcher of the Week... extended scoreless streak to eight innings, holding UT-Pan Am scoreless for three innings (May 12)... helped the Frogs clinch the MWC regular season title with six shutout innings at New Mexico (May 18)... earned third MWC Pitcher of the Week honors following the win... won game No. 13 despite allowing six runs in seven innings to New Mexico in the MWC Postseason Tournament opener... earned the Frogs lone win in the NCAA Regionals with 8.1 innings against top-seeded Oklahoma... allowed just five runs (one earned) on nine hits and struck out eight... had a K:BB ratio of 3:1.

2005 Summer League:
Played for the TCL's McKinney Marshalls... was a two-time TCL Pitcher of the Week... named a starter for the TCL All-Star Game... appeared in the TCL Future's Game at Ameriquest Field in Arlington... had a 4-3 record in 10 starts... posted a 1.87 ERA in 62.2 innings pitched... surrendered just 38 hits and struck out 54... ranked as one of the top 10 league prospects by Baseball America.

Weatherford Junior College:
Was drafted in the 26th round by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2005 MLB Draft... finished freshman campaign with a 6-2 record to go along with a 3.43 ERA.

Plano East High School:
Drafted in the 31st round of the 2004 MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds... finished his junior campaign with a 6-1 record and a 1.61 ERA... team was regional finalist in 2003... was 5-4 as a senior with a 1.30 ERA.

Jake is the son of Lou and Lynda Arrieta... has two younger brothers, Sam and Lukas... majoring in business marketing.
