FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU batters combined to bang out 19 hits in two games as the Horned Frogs swept a doubleheader from Texas-San Antonio Sunday afternoon 5-3 and 6-1. The victories gave TCU (3-1) a three-game series sweep over the Roadrunners (0-3).

Like they had in their first two games of the season, the Frogs allowed their opponent to get on the scoreboard first in game one, as UTSA took a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

However, TCU exploded for three runs in the second to knot the game at 3-3. Shortstop Shaff Elkouri (Norman, Okla./Asher) opened the Horned Frog scoring with a two-run single to center field.

One inning later, designated hitter Sean Stephens (DeSoto, Texas/DeSoto) blasted what proved to be the game-winning home run over the left field fence to put the Frogs up 5-3. The homer was Stephens' first as a Horned Frog.

From there pitchers Chris Osentowski (Garland, Texas/Richardson Berkner) and Ryan Weems (Roswell, N.M./Goddard) shut down the Roadrunner offense as they earned the win and save, respectively.

In game two, the Horned Frogs was able to find the scoreboard early and often as they jumped out to a 6-0 lead after five innings in cruising to victory. Elkouri and left fielder Chris Meeks (Brownwood, Texas/Brownwood) combined to go 5-for-6 with four RBI at the top of the order to lead the TCU offense. The duo tallied seven of the Frogs' 10 RBI in the twinbill.

With a crowd of 1,295 on hand for the doubleheader, the Horned Frogs now have a total attendance of 5,764 through three home dates this season at Lupton Stadium and Williams-Reilly Field, surpassing the 2002 total of 5,720 for 23 home dates.

TCU will look to extend its three-game winning streak and avenge its only loss of the season when it takes on Texas-Arlington Tuesday afternoon. Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m. at Lupton Stadium and Williams-Reilly Field.
