FORT WORTH - TCU baseball capped its annual Alumni Weekend with the Alumni game on Saturday afternoon. Over 60 former TCU baseball players showed up for Saturday’s game.

Fielding its most loaded roster in recent memory, the Alumni won the contest by a 3-1 score. The starting lineup for the Alums featured seven athletes, including three Major Leaguers, currently playing professional baseball. The starting nine boasted Cody Jones (Kansas City Royals), Jantzen Witte (Boston Red Sox), Chad Huffman (Detroit Tigers), Bryan Holaday (Detroit Tigers), Taylor Featherston (Philadelphia Phillies), Keaton Jones (Detroit Tigers), Dylan Fitzgerald, Jeremie Fagnan and Kyle Von Tungeln.

On the mound, TCU’s all-time winningest head coach, Lance Brown, had the luxury of nine arms with pro baseball experience. Brandon Finnegan (Cincinnati Reds) started and was followed by Sam Demel, Matt Purke (Chicago White Sox), Kyle Winkler (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim), Preston Morrison (Chicago Cubs), Stefan Crichton (Boston Red Sox), Tyler Alexander (Detroit Tigers), Alex Young (Arizona D’Backs) and Trey Teakell (Detroit Tigers).

“Obviously, we played great team,” remarked head coach Jim Schlossnagle. “The point of today was to celebrate the program and I thought we did that. There were a lot of great players on both sides of the field. It was a blast and we had a lot of fun.”

The Alumni scored a single run in the first, fourth and ninth innings to come away with the win. Huffman scored on a Holaday double in the first, while Featherston doubled home Fagnan in the fourth. Fagnan struck again in the ninth with a two-out triple and scored on a Von Tungeln base hit.

The Varsity squad’s lone run came in the fifth inning. Luken Baker doubled to lead off the inning and scored on a base hit by Dane Steinhagen.

The season gets underway Friday, Feb. 19 when the Horned Frogs host Loyola Marymount in a three-game series. First pitch of the 2016 campaign is set for 6:30 p.m.
