TCU vs. Texas Tech Postgame Quotes

March 11, 2012

Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle:
On the defense:
"Davy Wright played lights-out at third base and Braden Mattson was good too. He picked a ball out of the dirt was good, especially for him not playing there much before. Josh Elander caught well and blocked a couple of pitches in the dirt in the eighth inning with a runner on third."

On the offense:
"I thought we had some good at-bats. Duke von Schamann is a good pitcher, but I thought we had some good at-bats up there all day."

On Stefan Crichton:
"He threw some strikes early to give us a chance, but they hit a lot of balls hard those first three innings. He kept working at it and found his rhythm in the middle innings to get it going. That's the case with most good pitchers; if you are going to get them you have to get them early. They got some good swings on him and I thought Jason Coats made two nice plays in the outfield. Justin Scharf, Kevin Allen and Kaleb Merck looked as good as they have been all year."

TCU pitcher Stefan Crichton
On his outing:
"I didn't really get into my rhythm until the fourth or fifth inning. I wasn't locating and I was trying too hard to be precise when I should have just thrown it down the middle and let them get themselves out. Starting off, I didn't have my best stuff because I lacked some confidence but once I hit the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings something clicked."
