FORT WORTH - The TCU offense exploded for 13 runs on 12 hits to sweep Northwestern State with a 13-6 win Wednesday in front of a crowd of 5,612 patrons. Cody Jones led the offensive surge with two triples and a career-high five RBIs.

TCU built a 3-0 lead in the first two innings only to see the Demons battle back to tie the game in fourth inning.

Boomer White's lead-off single in the first helped get the Frogs on the board. He was standing on third base with one out when Jantzen Witte hit a sacrifice fly to center for a 1-0 lead.

In the second, Keaton Jones worked a one-out walk and was standing on second with two outs after a bunt single by Josh Gonzales. Cody Jones hit a ball to deep left field that fell in for a two-run triple, giving TCU a 3-0 lead.

Northwestern State got the two runs back in the top of the third to cut the deficit to one, 3-2. Cort Brinson drove in the first run of the game for the Demons and scored on a double from Nick Purdy.

The Demons completed the comeback in the top of the fourth, scoring a run on two hits, a walk and a hit batter. The damage could have been worse but Alex Young (3-1) got a strikeout to leave the bases loaded.

TCU wasted no time grabbing the lead back as it pushed across four runs in the bottom of the inning to open up a 7-3 lead. Paul Hendrix led off the frame with a double and scored on a Keaton Jones base hit for a 4-3 lead. Walks to Gonzales and Cody Jones loaded the bases for White. He battled the count to 3-2 and drove a single through the left side to plate two runs. A wild pitch allowed Cody Jones to race home with the final run of the inning.

Four more runs crossed the plate in the fifth as the lead grew to eight, 11-3. Cody Jones accounted for all four runs in the inning as he hit a two-out, bases-loaded triple to right center and scored on a wild pitch.

The first four batters for the Horned Frogs in the sixth inning reached base and two scored to push the lead to 13-3. Witte walked to open the inning and moved to third on a Kevin Cron base hit. After a walk to Hendrix loaded the bases, a wild pitch allowed Witte to score. Gonzales hit a sacrifice fly to cap the scoring in the inning.

Northwestern State attempted to get back in the contest as it sent eight men to the plate in the eighth inning and scored three times. Justin Scharf came on and got the final out of the inning to keep the game out of reach with TCU leading 13-6. He pitched a scoreless eighth inning before giving way to Andrew Mitchell in the ninth. The junior fanned all three batters he faced to end the game.

Stefan Crichton started and allowed three runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings. He didn't walk a batter and struck out three in the no-decision. Young earned the win in relief as he tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings. The freshman allowed a hit, a walk and struck out three.

TCU pushes its winning streak to three games and moves its record to 7-9 on the season. The Frogs' inaugural game in the Big 12 is set for Friday night when TCU hosts Kansas for a three-game series. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Lupton Stadium. Preston Morrison will get the ball for the Horned Frogs first-ever Big 12 contest.
