FORT WORTH - Brandon Finnegan tossed seven scoreless innings and the offense racked up 12 hits en route to a 4-1 victory over Dartmouth Friday night. Game two set for Saturday afternoon has been moved from a 2 p.m. start to a Noon first pitch.

Finnegan (3-2) was dominating in his seven innings of work, facing just two batters over the minimum. He allowed three base runners total and saw one of them caught stealing to end the second inning. He finished the night surrendering two hits, one walk and striking out 10.

"We played well," said head coach Jim Schlossnagle. "I thought Brandon pitched well without his best stuff. He didn't have his normal breaking ball, but he threw some good change-ups and made pitches when he had to make them."

Alex Young took over in the eighth and struck out two of the three batters he faced. Brian Trieglaff was touched for a run on three hits in 2/3 of an inning. Riley Ferrell need just one pitch to notch his second save of the season.

"Overall, it was a very clean baseball game," remarked Schlossnagle. "We didn't make any errors and walked only one guy on the night. We executed a first-and-third offensive play and got some hits. I would've liked to score more but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth."

The Horned Frog offense struck first in the bottom of the first. Cody Jones led off the inning with a base hit. After stealing second, he was standing on third with two outs. Derek Odell lined a single through the left side to put the Frogs up 1-0. The damage could have been worse if not for a strong throw from the left fielder, Bo Peterson, to cut down Odell trying to score on a Garrett Crain base knock.

TCU added to its lead in the fourth inning as it took advantage of a one-out error. Boomer White reached on the miscue and moved to third on a Crain base hit. With two outs and runners on the corners, the Horned Frogs executed a double steal. Jeremie Fagnan broke first and drew the throw to second. White raced home and slid in ahead of the tag for a 2-0 lead.

A lead-off single in the sixth from White turned into another TCU run. Crain followed with his third hit of the night to put two on with nobody out. A fielder's choice put runners on the corners for Kyle Bacak who delivered a sacrifice fly to right to bring in the run for a 3-0 lead.

The Frogs capped their offensive output in the eighth inning. Another lead-off single for White got the Frogs rolling. With two outs, White was standing on second with Bacak at the plate. The inning looked to be over on a grounder to third, but the throw across the diamond sailed wide of the base allowing White to score his third run of the night for a 4-0 lead.

Dartmouth did not go quietly as it made noise in the top of the ninth, eventually bringing the tying run to the plate. Matt Parisi singled with one out and moved to second on a Jeff Keller base knock. With two outs, Nick Lombardi singled in the Big Green's lone run of the game. On in relief, Ferrell need just one pitch to get Thomas Roulis to fly out to center field to end the game.

The victory improves to 10-7 on the season. Game two of the series is slated for Saturday afternoon. Game time has been adjusted to Noon to accommodate impending weather in the area. Preston Morrison (1-2) will make his fifth start of the season.
