Box Score

FORT WORTH, Texas - Four Baylor pitchers combined to hold TCU to just five hits as the Horned Frogs fell to the eighth-ranked Bears 10-3 Tuesday evening at Lupton Stadium and Williams-Reilly Field.

Baylor jumped out to a 8-0 lead with four runs in the second inning and four more in the fifth. A number of TCU miscues contributed to the Bears' fast start, including a three-base error by right fielder Jake Duncan (Marshall, Texas/Marshall) that led to three unearned runs in the second.

The Horned Frogs were only able to muster two hits versus Baylor starting pitcher Mark McCormick. The freshman used a fastball clocked in the mid-90s to strike out eight and walk just three in six innings of work to move to 2-0 on the season.

TCU (13-11) managed to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh stanza when second baseman Will Lewis (Texarkana, Ark./Texarkana) turned on a 90-mile-per-hour fastball from BU's Tyler Bullock for a two-run homer to left field. Lewis' second round-tripper of the year cut the deficit to 8-2.

Duncan led off the next inning with a single, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on an error to bring the Frogs with five at 8-3. In the process, the TCU right fielder extended his career-long hitting streak to 10 games, becoming just the third Horned Frog in two seasons to put together a 10-game streak.

However, Baylor (18-6) quelled any hopes of a TCU comeback by tallying two more runs in the top of the ninth.

Lewis was the only Horned Frog to register multiple hits against the impressive Baylor pitching staff, going 2-for-5 with two RBI. In all, the senior has hit safely in nine-of-10 games.

TCU will look to get back on track when it visits St. Louis this weekend for a three-game Conference USA series with the Saint Louis Billikens. Game times are slated for 7 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at SLU's Billiken Sports Center.
