FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs completed the doubleheader sweep of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with a 5-1 victory Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. The Frogs broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the fourth inning and cruised behind another strong pitching performance. Bryan Holaday, Matt Carpenter and Jimmie Pharr each tallied two hits in the contest and Chris Anagnostou picked up his first career victory with three scoreless innings.

TCU picked up where it left off in game one, scoring a run on two hits in the bottom of the first inning. Ben Carruthers led things off with an infield single and moved to second on a Steve Ellington sacrifice. Bryan Holaday singled through the left side to plate Carruthers, giving TCU a 1-0 lead.

The Islanders tied the game in the top of the second inning. Trey Hernandez doubled to lead off the inning and Martin Parra singled through the right side to put runners on the corner. An RBI ground out from Bryan Gerondale knotted the game at a run apiece. The Islanders threatened to take the lead as they loaded the bases with two outs, but TCU starter Greg Holle was able to get out of the jam with two ground ball outs.

The Frogs regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, picking up two runs on two hits and an error. Matt Carpenter singled with one out and stole second. A Brian Anderson wild pitch moved Carpenter to third where he scored on a double from Jimmie Pharr. Another wild pitch put Pharr on third and he crossed home on an error by the shortstop to give TCU a 3-1 lead.

Greg Holle went two innings allowing one run on two hits. He walked two and struck out two in the no-decision. Chris Anagnostou (1-0) tossed three scoreless inning for the Frogs to earn the win in relief. He allowed three hits, walked one and struck out two.

In the seventh inning the Islanders tried to start a rally, getting two runners on with only one. On in relief, Trent Appleby worked out of the jam getting Jacob Perales hit into a strike `em out/throw `em out doubleplay as Holaday gunned down Paul Seville trying to steal third.

Carrying the momentum into the bottom of the inning, the Frogs added to their lead with a run on one hit. Pharr led off the frame with his second double of the game. Pinch runner Corey Steglich moved to third on a Brett Gibson wild pitch and scored on a suicide squeeze off the bat of Hunt Woodruff for a 4-1 TCU lead.

Steglich made it a 5-1 contest with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. Holaday and Carpenter picked up back-to-back one-out singles and Matt Vern was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Steglich drove the ball to center field and Holaday was safe as he slid in under the tag.

Taylor Cragin, Trent Appleby, Dillon Farish, Collin Auten and Matt Coburn pitched the final four innings to help the Frogs earn the doubleheader sweep.

The Frogs improve to 13-10 on the season. They will return to conference play this weekend when they travel to Las Vegas, Nev. for a meeting with UNLV. First pitch Friday night is slated for 8:30 p.m. (CST). Tyler Lockwood will get the start for the Frogs.
