ARLINGTON, Texas - The TCU defense committed five errors and gave up three unearned runs in an eventual 4-3 10-inning loss to UT Arlington Tuesday night. Jerrick Suiter turned in a solid performance on the mound for the Horned Frogs in his first collegiate start.

After Josh Elander's second home run of the season gave TCU a 3-2 lead in the top of the 10th, things unraveled in the bottom of the inning as the Mavericks rallied for the win.

Derek Miller drew a one-out walk and moved to third on a double from Preston Beck. Kevin Allen intentionally walked Michael Guerra to load the bases before giving way to Justin Scharf. Preston Morrow hit a sinking line drive to left that Jason Coats made a highlight reel catch on to save a run, but an error on a ball that would have ended the game tied the contest at three. Two pitches later, a wild pitch allowed Beck to score the winning run.

Jerrick Suiter turned in a solid performance in his first collegiate start. He allowed just one run on four hits in 4 2/3 innings of work with one walk and a career-high four strikeouts. Preston Morrison tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and striking out three. Kevin Allen (2-1) took the loss after he gave up three unearned runs on three hits in 2 1/3 innings. He walked three and struck out three.

After facing seven batters in the first inning, Suiter found a rhythm and allowed just two base runners before he was lifted with two outs in the fifth. One of the base runners that reached was on an error to open the third, but he was cut down trying to steal second.

The Mavericks had taken an early 1-0 lead in the contest as they took advantage of a lead-off double by Ryan Walker. A pair of groundouts had Walker standing on third and Guerra singled to left center to drive in the first run of the game.

The Frogs dodged a bullet in the bottom of the fourth inning after Morrow hit a long fly ball to right field. Brance Rivera made a leaping catch at the wall to take away the home run, keeping the deficit at one.

TCU put together a two-out rally in the top of the sixth to take a 2-1 lead. Jantzen Witte was inches away from his first home run of the season as it bounced off the wall for a ground-rule double. Brett Johnson followed with a double down the left field line that allowed Witte to score the tying run.

Kevin Cron kept the inning alive with a base hit that deflected off the pitcher's glove. Trying to make the play, the shortstop threw the ball away, allowing Johnson to race home for a 2-1 TCU lead.

In the eighth inning, the Frogs gifted the Mavericks the tying run with two outs. Miller drew a one out walk and moved to second on a base hit by Beck. Allen looked like he had the ground ball he needed to end the inning, but an errant throw allowed the tying run to score.

TCU falls to 12-10 with the loss. The Horned Frogs will begin a season-long 12-game homestand Friday night when they host UNLV in a three-game series. Friday's series-opener is set for a 6:30 p.m. start.
