ARLINGTON, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs bounced back in a big way with a 12-6 victory over UT Arlington Tuesday night at Clay Gould Ballpark. Dylan Fitzgerald and Kevin Cron each homered for the Frogs.

The offense started early for the Frogs as they plated a pair of runs in the first. A pair of walks to Cody Jones and Derek Odell came back to haunt UTA. Jerrick Suiter put the Frogs in front with a base hit through the right side. Kevin Cron followed with a single to right center to drive in Odell for a 2-0 lead.

A one-out error proved costly for the Frogs in the bottom of the first. With two outs, Ryan Bottger lined a double into right center to drive in the Mavericks first run of the game, cutting TCU's lead in half, 2-1.

The Frogs took advantage of their second lead-off walk in the game to open up a 3-1 lead in the third. Maverick starter Justin Schnedler got two quick outs after the walk, but Suiter came through with a two-out single through the left side to drive in Dylan Fitzgerald.

TCU added a pair of runs in the fifth inning. Fitzgerald battled his way to a 3-2 count before smoking his first career home run to dead center to give the Frogs a 4-1 lead. Boomer White walked following the home run and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Odell. Suiter continued his torrid hitting with a bouncer up the middle to drive in White, giving TCU a 5-1 lead.

Odell got the Frogs rolling again in the seventh as he opened the inning with a base hit to left. With one out, Cron launched a no-doubter over the left field fence for a two-run home run and a 7-1 lead.

The Mavericks climbed back into the game in the seventh as they sent 10 men to the plate and scored four times. Matt Shortall made it a 7-2 ballgame with a two-out double. After a hit batter loaded the bases, Greg McCall cleared the bases with a double to left center to make it 7-5. The Mavericks reloaded the base on a pair of walks, but Alexander pitched out of the jam to preserve the TCU lead.

TCU got the runs back in the top of the eighth. Three walks loaded the bases with one out. Connor Castellano legged out an infield single to drive in the first run of the inning. With two outs, Kyle Bacak delivered the big blow with a two-run single to right. The throw back to the infield got away, allowing Castellano to score to make it an 11-5 game.

Both teams traded runs in the ninth to account for the final score. Odell single to drive in Fitzgerald, while the Mavericks got an RBI groundout from Jackson Morris.

Jordan Kipper (3-2) threw a career-high 6 2/3 innings for the Frogs. He allowed four runs (three hits) on eight hits to go along with a walk and seven strikeouts. Travis was touched for a run on a walk, hit and hit batter. Tyler Alexander pitched 1/3 of an inning. Brian Trieglaff struck out two in his one inning of work. Riley Ferrell was touched for a run on a hit and a walk. He fanned two.

With the win, the Horned Frogs improve to 16-10 overall. TCU returns home Friday night for a three-game Big 12 series against West Virginia. Friday's night's series opener is set for 6:30 at Lupton Stadium.
