Final Stats

FORT WORTH – TCU scored two first inning runs and never looked back en route to a 4-2 win over Kansas on Friday afternoon at Hoglund Ballpark. The teams weathered a 90 minute lightning delay. Nick Lodolo was brilliant over six innings, allowing just two hits and four total base runners.

Connor Wanhanen led off the game with a walk and moved to third on a throwing error with one out. He scored on a Luken Baker groundout to give the Frogs a lead. Back-to-back two-out hits from Josh Watson and Michael Landestoy had the Frogs back in business. With the bases loaded a passed ball gave the Frogs a 2-0 lead.

Kansas, too, took advantage of a lead-off walk in the bottom of the inning. A one-out single had runners on the corners. Brett Vosik grounded out to cut the lead in half.

TCU was able to extend its lead in the top of the fourth. Landestoy drew a lead-off walk and was standing on third with two outs. Conner Shepherd delivered the RBI single for a 3-1 lead.

The Frogs pushed their advantage to three, 4-1, with a run in the eighth. Baker led off the inning with a base hit and scored on an RBI-groundout off the bat of A.J. Balta.

Kansas pulled within two in the bottom of the inning as it took advantage of a lead-off double. A two-out single from James Cosentino made it a 4-2 ballgame. With the tying run at the plate, Durbin Feltman came on and struck out the final batter of the inning.

Feltman completed the four-out save working around a one-out walk in the ninth. He fanned two in the outing to pick up his fifth save of the season.
